ONE-OFFS & OTHER COOL PROJECTS THAT GAVE BACK

Sometimes the little projects come through big. Whether it’s the premium execution of craft or the creative simplicity of a big idea, there are moments to be recognized and badges to be earned along the way. These are a few of mine.

PATRICK MAHOMES ZX2K SEEDING KIT

CLIENT: adidas US Brand Design
AGENCY: Roundhouse
ROLE: Senior Designer
CREATIVE DIRECTION: Mitch Morse
ART DIRECTION: Andrew Maudlin

This was a quick turn project that came with a small budget. From the beginning, it was all about simple execution within a small window of time so we leaned into the concept of speed through the bending of space and time. The black on black design featured a sophisticated typographic layout woven into a field of warped lines. Employment of spot gloss and foil treatments throughout the printing process to highlight typographic elements created an intimate consumer experience while elevating the product within.

NBA TUNNEL HOODY STATEMENTS

CLIENT: adidas Basketball
AGENCY: Roundhouse
ROLE: Senior Designer
CREATIVE DIRECTION: Mitch Morse
ART DIRECTION: Ladd Arundel

These were a couple of hoodies from a successful series of one-offs I designed for the NBA Tunnel walk during the 2018-19 season. They ultimately served as content for social media, creating hype and awareness around adidas sponsored athletes and the campaigns they were involved with at the time. In the examples above, James Harden was in the middle of an MVP run while Donovan Mitchell (Nickname Spida) gave a shout out to the late, great Stan Lee.

2021 US OPEN

CLIENT: adidas Global Brand Design
AGENCY: Roundhouse
ROLE: Senior Designer
CREATIVE DIRECTION: Mitch Morse
ART DIRECTION: Jered Bogoli

The challenge here was to transform an uninspired space and bring a holistic brand store to life at the US Open. We identified ways to merchandise footwear and apparel for head-to-toe stories using props and dimensional materials rooted in tennis, and by considering the space as a whole (including walls, columns, and fixture layouts) to develop larger storytelling moments.

The elements we created presented the adidas Barricade campaign in conjunction with additional key category franchises in a window to wall consumer experience.

PIE CRAFT

CLIENT: Pie Craft Pizza & Brew
PROJECT SCOPE: Logo Development / Identity System / Graphic Packaging

A friend of mine needed help rebranding a new pizzeria brew pub in San Diego. It needed to be approachable, fun and exude the hand-made artisanal qualities of the food and beverages served within. Although the ask was just for a logo, the end result was a cohesive identity system to use for internal and external signage, graphic packaging, and marketing materials.

JACK L. WINN

CLIENT: Jack L. Winn – Artist
PROJECT SCOPE: Logo Development / Business Cards

Jack Winn, a Pacific North Western artist came to me for a logo and business card. Although his work featured many traditional native American themes, he was the first to stylize hummingbirds in the same aesthetic and often injected non-traditional hues into his color palettes. I created a stylized logo from his initials and harnessed the power of tonal hummingbirds and teal hues in the layout of his business card. The end result elevated the artist through simple presentation.
